We have been open in Sherwood just over 12 months now and I couldn’t be happier with the move from Kenmore. Over 500 new floaters in the 12 month period which is just fabulous; would be happier if they all understood that floating is not just a thing to tick off the “to do” list. It is very much just an experience for the younger generation. That needs to be fixed!
Having said that, I am having great conversations with many new floaters who are searching for the school-work-play balance and those who have continued to float regularly are definitely seeing the results. Decreased stress levels, more centred and level headed in their approach to life. Most are much calmer and able to cope with life’s twists and turns.
Those of you who have followed our progress in the past know of my wife (Kerry) and her encounter with Cancer and how we’ve knocked it on its head. We have been practicing safe eating for 2 years now. Well, she is positively dangerous these days and as a consequence, wants to help others get well too. So we have come up with the “Wellness Centre” concept (yes we know it’s a very radical and out there idea-not). Actually it is a combination of things. We will look to have a nice safe fresh environment where you can come for a day or a week or whatever and live off grid without power and learn how to grow your own food and how to transform this fresh produce into powerful salads and health promoting smoothies etc. We will be using permaculture principles growing all our own food, from chickens, goats and pigs, to growing fruit forests and planting a hillside of Maringa trees over the next 20 years, so we become totally self-sustainable. We will provide services such as float tank, massage, colonics, infrared sauna and sunbathing. You will have to work for your supper, as part of getting well is actually learning to contribute and take responsibility for your own health. If you stay for the weekend we will take you to the local farmers markets in the heart of the Lockyer Valley, one of the most fertile regions in the world and only 1 hour west of Brisbane, you will be able to buy and take fresh food home with you.
Accommodation will be straw bale huts with NO power – just a lantern, bed and bathroom. The idea is to get away from technology and give your body a rest from the emf’s. There will be time to finish books, start painting (some great landscape views), but most of all getting in touch with what your body needs to recover.
Over the next 12 months we will, using facebook and this site, keep everyone up to date with the progress. We think it is going to be exciting, redesigning the landscape and lives and producing lots of fruit.
We will also be continuing the growth of Brisbane Float & Massage and educating all those who want to know more about floating – after 26 years we still have something to give back.
Life is far too short to be wasted on ill health, there are family and friends to be loved, new generations to inspire and landscapes to be repaired and made fertile again.
